Tips on Shopping Towards Eid al-Azha Day

Do not be surprised if you will feel the different congestion of other weekdays when crossing the streets of Cihampelas, Merdeka (Dago) and Otista (Otto Iskandar Dinata) in the city of Ban dung, West Java, because there seemed a lot of activities were undertaken by both the visitors who began to do their 'tourist shopping' preparation for the Eid day and the activities of traders who began to heavily promoting their wares.

Such atmospheres were not independently off the policies of some companies that provided such bonus or allowance called the 'Tunjangan Hari Raya' (THR, or the Holiday Allowance, ed.) that would be given ahead of date. If previously customers awaited for the THR to shop, which was distributed a week or two weeks before Eid came; now a lot of costumers have started to shop some of their Eid al-Fitr needs. Averagely the customers targeted such needs like clothings, and daily necessities like groceries.
Tips to Shop for the Eid:
  1. Compile a list of shopping needs, both consumption to welcome guests on Eid, or other Eid's needs. Such as clothes, shoes and others.
  2. Find the appropriate shopping place, time and effort effective, that also provides complete shopping needs.
  3. Do not easily tempted by the promotions and discounts given.
  4. Carefully inspect the goods to be purchased. Check the expiry dates of food and beverages to be bought, also careful of the damage or defect on clothings to be purchased.
  5. Never buy items not listed on the shopping list.
The key to avoid wasteful when shopping for the fasting month and Eid is self-control. Momentum of the fasting month is not just to control hunger and thirst, but also desire to shop, or not being consumptive. For women, this might be a bit hard to do. Hence, it needs a special strategy to change the lavish tradition on the two occasions.
The tricks are:
  1. Separating the routine needs of daily life with such not-routine needs for the fasting month and Eid al-Azha day.
  2. Anticipating the fluctuations (up or down) of the need's rates/costs towards the fasting month and Eid al-Azha day.
  3. Setting the family daily menu wisely.
